Mollie333
Here the chicken was, minding its own business laying an egg, perfectly comfy, then she pulls its tail feathers so its vent is in the camera.. Egluntyne
Interesting clip. Not ideal to disturb them when they are laying, but fortunately no real harm seems to have been done.
Mollie333
If that was my chickens she would have pecked me back. No great deal done, but was sort of wrong to have disturbed her.
Mercedes55
It did seem kind of wrong to pull her feathers up like that just so people could see what she was doing
Cinnamon
I know - its like lifting someone's skirt, isn't it? Not totally comfortable viewing, although I have seen one of mine lay,& caught it in my hand
midori
I feel quite sorry for the hen,it look sto me like she is trying to turn back round, but the person filming has got hold of her tail feathers still, which prevents her. I've peered into the nest box a couple of times and seen one of mine laying exactly at that time, but they aren't wriggling or moving about like the hen in the video. Plus, they spend so long fidgeting and turning round in the nest box getting in the right position, it seems cruel to move them.
majuka
I have also seen two of my chickens lay an egg, both ex batts, both on the second day we got them. Henrietta was in the nest box early on the second morning and we lifted the lid off the ark to check on them and the egg was just on its way out! Later on that day, Matilda was in the run and I was sat watching them. She hadn't got the hang of the nest box and just sat down in the run and laid an egg right in front of me! I don't like to disturb them though when they are laying, I think they should have some privacy. I will only sneak a peek if they have been in there for an extremely long time and I want to make sure they are ok. I certainly don't think it is right to start filming and pulling their feathers up though, very undignified for the poor girl.
Dangri
that's just not right. That poor little chook looked very uncomfortable (
johnandkymberley
I agree with all comments above. its cruel AND unnecessary, i have seen my hens lay but only peeking in and i wouldnt dare touch them, unless it was to help them or save their life. dont do it again please, poor girl

Mollie333
It was really harsh pulling the feathers.
