Piercings?

Recommended Posts

Just thought I would update this a bit.

My piercing is healing nicely. The ball fell off the bar today & it actually came out,but it went back in with no discomfort at all, although the ball was a devil to screw back on again

I am considering having a Daith piercing next summer in my other ear.

My youngest, who is very artistic & into all this stuff has decided that she would like to try to become a piercer/tattooist when she is older,& is looking to send out her CV after her GCSE's next spring to the local places to see if she can get some experience & help out a bit in the shop :D

Did anyone else go ahead & take the plunge?

I'm seriously considering it as a sort of celebration of my BIG birthday later this year, I did think about getting another tattoo but I like the look of your piercing so much, I really want one! It's very encouraging to hear that yours has settled so well.

I don't know anywhere local that does piercings, I need to do some research.

Have you tried your local tattooist? They will know a piercer usually if there isn't one on the premises.

Well, funny you should ask that - a new tattoo parlour opened up a few months ago just down the road, it looks very swish with a lovely red couch in the window. I might pop in there tomorrow - as someone above said, I just can't face sitting in Claire's Accessories to have it done!

Well,how annoying........

Ky

We have now been told at work that no piercing apart from one in each lobe is allowed.

We either have to remove them, which is not an option for a new one,or cover them with an attractive electric blue plaster.

Very annoying as the supervisor who told me is the very man who said I should get it done, and that it would not present a problem.

Am seriously considering looping a few inches of hair off,so I don't need to

to tie it back, exposing my ears.

Some of the other staff are furious,as they have worn theirs for a year with no problem.

We have a lovely new uniform next month, and it seems that they are implementing new grooming rules now,so we all toe the line.

Oh no! Is it just because it's a new onethat you can't take it out, or are they really difficult to remove from that position? It seems daft - if you're allowed normal ear-lobe ones, why not there?

My niece turned down a job in a chocolate factory this summer because she would have had to remove all 15 of her piercings every day. (I'm assuming they wouldn't have insisted on removal of the ones that are hidden under her clothes! )

Yes,I can't remove it for another 6 weeks or so,when it should be fully healed, but even then I can't just not wear anything in it for several hours,as it may close up. I could at that stage wear a clear plastic retainer though, which is all but invisible ( youngest girl has one in her nose for school)

Some staff will look like they have some odd disease with all the blue round plasters they will have on their ears :lol:

Mine is in such an odd place that I will be lucky to get a plaster to stick there anyhow!

This sounds daft to me. I would much rather see a piercing or piercings than someone covered in blue plastic plasters. I don't understand why you would need to wear plasters; it surely can't be an issue of hygiene (and if it is, why allow one set of ear lobe piercings?) and if the plasters are designed to cover the piercings then surely they are just making it more obvious? A blue plaster is much more noticeable than a piercing!

I think you should all cover yourselves in blue plasters. It won't take long for the management to get fed up with a row of smurf wannabes on the tills or for customers to complain.

ROFCWL, that is something I'd do :D Many years ago I ripped all the buttons of my awful regulation school coat as we had to fasten it all the way up to the top to walk along the main road to church.

:lol::lol: at the thought of everyone adorned from top to toe in blue plasters!!:lol::lol:

The rule seems a bit over the top, maybe you should claim to be allergic to blue plasters and see if they offer an alternative - maybe a balaclava would do the trick! Or ear muffs! I can understand piercings needing to be removed or covered if you work in a food preparation area, I stopped wearing my nose stud years ago when I worked in a kitchen and got fed up with taking it out before each shift. Rules eh?!

And I have had it for weeks already with no problems......some have had ones for months.

It's all down to the new uniform. We have been reminded that we signed contracts which state that uniform/grooming rules are subject to change.

And the plaster must be blue because we do handle food,as I work on Waitrose checkouts.

To be honest I do sort of see where they are coming from,as they can look a bit much in a work environment sometimes, but I know that if I say I can't wear a plaster,I will be told I have to remove it altogether.

They are being ultra strict so no one can say that someone else is getting away with it.

Maybe I should have got a job in Tesco........NOT :lol:
