New Zealand must be a truly magical place.

I'm glad he's having a great time after all he's been through. He deserves to have a great time. :D

We had a girl from New Zealand attend our school for a short time. I can still remember the photos she showed of the huge plants they had out there. She was standing under one gigantic leaf in one photo. Its stuck in my memory.

It's certainly the place to be if you like the outdoor lifestyle. I grew up in New zealand and seemed to be outside from first light 'til dusk, when we returned to England I couldn't understand why people spent so much time inside :? ( now I don't understand why we don't all hibernate from October - March  )

It is, no question about it.

We emigrated here over 2 years ago, & those that were forum friends at the time will possibly remember how difficult the to emigrate or not decision was for me. I never was unhappy in the UK, no grudges, no reason to leave...except for opportunity & adventure.

But NZ is magical, the people are amazing, warm, friendly, welcoming, the climate is still very seasonal, cold in winter, warm in summer, but no greyness, no drizzle. The scenery is awesome. Some days I still find myself pinching myself that I'm lucky enough to live here. I used to commute 9 miles to work from Dartford to Plumstead along the A2 in traffic jams most mornings. These days I drive 45kms through the most beautiful scenery......and it takes less time than the much shorter A2 journey ever took.

My children are flourishing, skiing or snowboarding in the winter, watersports all summer. They're rarely home & happy & fulfilled.

It's not Utopia, there's things I could complain about, but they're trivial when you take the bigger picture into account.

I love, love, love NZ

If your son's planning on visiting Rotorua & wants a home cooked meal or a bed for the night, or even just the low down on the place just drop me a PM
