How Quickly Does Albendazole Work?

Hi - just been checking over my pekins & one of the older ladies has a clump / ball of mud / poo surrounding one of her claws. It's quite hard. We have soaked it in warm water, but she's getting stressed with us doing that. So how's best to remove it & make her feet more pedicured?

She is clonking round the garden like she is wearing clogs!

I soak them then use a cocktail stick to push gently between the ball and the claw, soak again and work my way round the claw withe the cocktail stick, eventually the mud will pop off

 

Obviously dont force it as you can pull the whole claw off!

Ahh good idea - thanks for that. I've soaked it & she has been running round clog dancing on some concrete paving - it is working its way off.

Let me know how you get on. I have to remove my first ball tomorrow and I'm a little freaked out by it. My silkie is also clomping around and in a very bad mood!

Try warm water too - if they won't let you hold them, just leave them standing in the sink with warm water in it to soak, then I'd squash it to loosen it.

 

We had a huge turkey at the farm once with big poo balls ... was interesting

Talking about bleeding, Cheryl jumped of the table one time and got her nail caught in a gap in the table, nail came right off!

 

All the Pekins & Cheryl used to get stuff stuck to there feet whilst free ranging. And i used to stand them in a tubtrug full of warm water.
