Today was spent attaching the eglu to a panel of the WIR - and I mean ALL of the day!! I followed the fab example of ENPEKT and it's finally done. It seems very secure and looks neat so am relieved that it's completed.

I'll take some photos tomorrow.

Hope you all like our WIR. There's still a bit of work to do on the interior but it's nearly there. Our 3 girls seem to be really enjoying it - the perches etc are certainly making their lives more fun!!

Wow your eglu joining bit looks really professional Good branches for them. I've got the panels the other way round so am still exporing ways to support them. Girls look happy.

Not at all, Plum!! I don't bear a particular resemblence to Spock (phew!!) and it's nothing to do with chooks! My name is Jane and, over the last few years, I've had loads of ear problems. Very boring, unfortunately, but that's the story.

It's on-going but alot of my hearing has returned. As a teacher, that's pretty vital!!

Probably a lot you would be glad not to hear. Seriously that must make things really hard for you at work. Perhaps all the fresh air being out with your girls will help you recover.

They are very pretty and quite light on the back feathers

We deliberately asked the farmer that we got them from for three very different birds. He pbviously thought we were completely mad but obliged. Didn't he do well?!!

He did My Gingernut is not nearly as prettily marked but is so friendly and such a character.

Thanks everyone. We're so pleased that our girls now have a better quality of life. Also, it's so easy opening / closing the door, collecting the eggs and cleaning out, now that the eglu is positioned outside the WIR. Our life has improved, too!!

just been having a browse - red is a great colour for the I think!! just looking at your method of joining it to the run - we were thinking of having a wooden panel with slots cut in it for the so I was just wondering how fiddly you found it to make that join??

It was fiddly but I wanted to do a good job - took a few hours. You'll need pointy, sharp wire-cutters and lots of patience!!
