Old Speckled Hen
It's a pity he didn't get substantially more than 6K. A better investment than more diddling about with waggle dances. There is a good article about this in the October issue of Beecraft
Old Speckled Hen
Here's the voice of the man himself on youtube. There weren't any comments when I looked but please be aware that may change. The interesting thing here is that what is being said that it is within all beekeepers capability to look for damaged mites, which suggests that the bees are grooming the mites off, and to breed from these queens rather than leaving all the research to institutions; a question of helping oneself. I don't know how this would work especially if you have neighbouring apiaries but food for thought ay?
