Alis girls Posted October 8, 2010 Share Posted October 8, 2010 I have one hen who is totally freaked by handling - so much so she winds other 2 up something rotten. friend is having them in her hen hotel for weekend and got 2 in cat box but she went crazy. Currant Posted October 8, 2010 Share Posted October 8, 2010 Is it possible to get her in the morning before letting them out or in the evening when they have gone to bed? It's much easier than trying to catch them! I had to do this with one of mine to give her medicine and there was no way she was going to be caught! CallyChook Posted October 8, 2010 Share Posted October 8, 2010 Most of mine are fairly amenable to cuddling, but the orpingtons are very anti-picking up. I have a piece of large-mesh (maybe 2inch x 2 inch holes) plastic garden fencing, 1.5 x .75m, which is useful for cornering and then wraps round the orpies for those occations when i need to catch and administer powder, anti-peck spray etc. It was about a fiver from the garden centre and is fantastic for catching chickens in!
