A lovely thought

Recommended Posts

Last Thursday I accompanied a group of Year 11s (including DS) to the local Crown Court to see a real trial in action - they will be taking part in a mock trial competition next month. On the train back to school, we had to split up the group. I was close to six of them in my carriage but wasn't actually sitting with them.

As we were getting off, a lady asked where they were from and congratulated them on how well they had behaved. They had been playing cards and talking quietly but had respected the other passengers and I thanked her for her comments.

The lady concerned has emailed the headteacher to pass on her thoughts.

It is so lovely that she has taken the time to compliment the students. So many people are quick to criticise young people and I am so touched that this lady was thoughtful enough to praise them.

It has made me feel quite warm!

How lovely,& how coincidental.

There was a super letter in the local rag from an older chap in Southsea who had come across some Henley College students on a trip, praising them for their courtesy, honesty & manners, just this week.

it truly made my day, even if my girls were not part of the trip :P

What a thoughtful thing to do - good manners and respectful behaviour are seen so infrequently these days, and rarely commended. Well done to those students, they are a reflection on your supervision. :D

Did you need to use the Voice of Doom, or did they behave of their own accord?

To be honest, the behaviour was entirely what I would expect from these particular students. I know them all through DS and they are a lovely group. I don't think that they would have behaved any differently had I not been there - so I can't take any credit at all!!

I am sure that the respect that they have for you must have some bearing. :D

We were on holiday about 5 years ago with our brood and we took a half board option which included breakfast and evening meal. We were approached by a couple at the end of the week who complimented our children on their good behavior at the meal times, saying that children who sat and ate a meal sensibly while chatting to their parents was a rare sight. We were pleased that they took the time to do this and it was a good feeling. :D
