miffy
No not in the run but in the walls of YS bedroom!!!!!! kept him awake last night, he moved into the spare room because they were keeping him awake. Rang council environment people, they sub contract the work out so now waiting for a call from the contractor. Cost £42 but its just a one off charge no matter how often they need to return. No one wants to go in the room until they are gone....how on earth do they get into the wall of an upstairs room?????
jlo
One comes along our guttering and gets under the tiles - at least I assume it's a rat. It isn't there very often but it is quite disturbing when you can hear it. Hope it gets sorted soon!
Blackrocksrock
You sure its rats - we have been under the floor and setting trap as heard something in the wall and have had a mouse every day except yesterday when believe it or not under the utility room floor we caught a vole! They can climb up between the walls
Geoid
There was a rat in the shed the other day, so I grabbed the biggest bit of wood I could find and whacked it with it. I have put down some poison now. Hopefully there won't be any more vistors.

Blackrocksrock
It may just be mice coming in - particularly field mice at this time of year - they are not nice anyway but not quite so bad as the ratties!
miffy
you are right!! the contractor has been and says there are no rat droppings only mice he had set some stuff down and will be back in a week to review. He thinks they may have got in by climbing a tree to eat the beries and got onto the roof via the overhanging branches, or through the holes in the pointing guess what our jobs are this week the joys of country living.... bats in the aga flue, shrews in the annex, rats in the garden as well as water voles...not to mention badgers and foxes.... I LOVE IT ALL
Blackrocksrock
Really glad its not rats for you - We are still setting the trap under the floor and getting mice every day - hopefully if we catch enough then they will all be gone or nearly anyway - they are a menace! Goosey Lucy
If you want to block holes, I can recommend fine wire wool, they don't like chewing through it. The gaps and spaces in the backs of my kitchen cupboards are stuffed with it. The mice only get into the loft now and are stuck there. However Micky is rather clever and won't go near the trap I've set despite it being baited with cheese, hard chocolate, peanut butter, chocolate cake and a gooey chocolate. (not all at the same time though). Like you I was nervy about what was making the sounds and relieved to discover it was only a mouse. But there's never just one mouse... Mrs Webmuppet
I remember when I was small. Mice used to get through an air brick in the outer wall, climb up the cavity then pop out under the eaves, scamper into the gutter ..................then slide down the drain pipe (it had a grate between the pipe and the sewer).............I swear they did it for fun!
