Poorly chicken

Recommended Posts

Hello, I really need some advice. Delilah has been unwell for a few days now.

She is very 'puffed up', sad, wants to sit down all the time and now seems to be having difficulty walking too. I really don't know what to do as she hasn't laid for a long time (just thought that was the end of her laying time), and she has had 'moments' of these symptoms but has always improved after a few days, but she has now really deteriorated. She has been drinking and eating but has none of her 'bossyiness' at the moment.

(Bluebelle)

Please would someone help?

Thank you

I'm wondering if she has developed peritonitis. It sounds like it from the symptoms. Your best bet is to take her to the vet, as she may need to have some fluid removed from her abdomen.

Unfortuately the long term outlook isn't brilliant, but she may get some relief for a while.

One of our chickens was really ill, with a VERY pale comb and laying down, not eating or drinking. we took her to the vets, who didnt know what the matter was. she gave us some antibiotics, and after every dose she was better. i hope this improvement happens to your chicken too :(
