SarahJo
Not obviously giving radiotherapy as a gift - but - what to get someone as a gift who is about to have a weeks course everyday, in the neck/chest area. Gifts like food and flowers seem a bit run-of-the-mill, and I thought fellow omleteers might have some better ideas. Any suggestions welcome ...... Egluntyne
A friend of mine used Rosemary oil to help soothe her skin after radiotherapy. Maybe your friend would appreciate something like that?
Plum
Something good to read. Must be an ordeal waiting for all those sessions or some music and headphones
Yorkshire Pudding
Apparently it can leave the skin sore, like sunburn. A lady I know wore silk scarves under her clothes, to stop them rubbing on the sore spots - perhaps you could give her something soft to wear? Christian
Books, books and more books. Lots of hanging around. The skin can be incredibly sore, so things like simple creams, E45 etc are good. Anything pampering with no chemicals. Maybe make up a little pamper hamper with a few of the above inside?
Cranfield Kate
those accupressure wrist band things that help to prevent nausea. I wear them for travelling and suggested to my mum to get them for her friend when she was having chemo and she said they made a massive difference. you could decorate them and make them look pretty maybe. SarahJo
Thanks guys - I like the silk scarf idea, as yes there is a risk of burning of the skin. Also a book - I might do a little radiotherapy survival hamper with various goodies.
Daphne
Maybe don't put food in it; I know radiotherapy can cause nausea and food to taste vile. In fact, I think I'd stick to mild smells or things you know the person likes, or make sure they can be used them later if they 'disagree', just in case. I should think a bit of escapism wouldn't come amiss.
