Tiggy
We had to say goodbye to my Moms older brother yesterday, its sort of fitting that he died so close to rememberance day. He was an ex-para, and he & my Mom were separated as children & only got to know eachother again 18 months ago, but at least he knew that there was a family there for him at the end RIP uncle Norman

LisaP
Very sorry for your loss and that your Mum and Uncle Norman were separated for so long. As you say, at least he did know he had family at the end. Lisa P
Ain't Nobody Here
How sad . I remember when you told us they'd been reunited - how lovely that they had that chance .
bluekarin
That is sad, but how wonderful they did get to meet, even though it was for such a short time
Seagazer
That is so sad that they spent so long apart but it must be comforting to know that they had been reunited at the end.
Tiggy
thankyou all for your kind words. Norman was very poorly in the end & it is a blessing that he is now at peace, it is a terrible thing for a family to watch a loved one fade over such a long period of time. Poor man was so confused & believed he was back in the paras & on a battlefield, he was afraid & sadly violent towards everyone because he thought he was still at war. As we all think about our service personnel today we need to remember the effect that war has on the rest of their lives, I cannot imagine how anyone copes with the horrors many will see & live with.
