Steve the Gas
That will only treat a virus, it looks like a bacterial infection to me...
Plum
Looks like mycoplasma, I would take her to the vet.
alet_chicken
I agree with Plum and Steve, she needs to see a vet. The swelling indicates this is more than just a sore eye, she needs antibiotics.
scarlettohara
Looks like mycoplasma as the sinuses are swollen which is classic sign
Egluntyne
That will only treat a virus .... I don't think this is correct. They are antibacterial but are *not licensed for use in poultry in UK. I would take her to the vet to be on the safe side

That will only treat a virus, it looks like a bacterial infection to me... 'fraid you have got it the wrong way around Steve. Antibiotics treat bacterial infections - they do nothing for viruses other than treating secondary bacterial infections. All this aside, you need to go to the vet. Myco would be top of my list. If this is the case, her issues are not restricted to the eye and therefore drops alone will not treat her overall condition.
Steve the Gas
I have always believed Chloramphencol is an anti-viral med.
Chucky Mama
No, it is an antibiotic. There are actually not many anti viral medications in common use. Viruses are usually left untreated as generally the body has to fight them off. Antibiotic support is given purely to treat opportunistic secondary bacterial infections. Steve the Gas
As I thought - primarily viral........ What causes conjunctivitis? The most common cause of conjunctivitis is a viral infection. Other causes include seasonal allergies, bacterial infection, and reactions to eye medications. Or is not the same for chooks...........? Plum
If you look in front of the eye Steve you can see the sinus's are swollen, it's more than conjunctivitis.
Steve the Gas
Agreed, I can see what looks like pus above the lower eyelid too- which would indicate a bacterial infection.........
Chucky Mama
I think the issue going back to the chook in question is that the eye is quite possibly a symptom of something else like Myco. If this is the case, trying to resolve the eye issue alone may not be the way forward. For example distemper in dogs causes amongst other things green crusty eyes. Using eye drops may soothe the eyes but it doesn't stop the dog having distemper.
Redwing
It was me that posted about the eye drops, they are good (though not licenced for poultry) but probably wont help in this situation, that does indeed look like Myco and the hen will need some antibiotics (Tylan is good if your vet will prescribe it - not all will)
Steve the Gas
Tylan is the daddy
scarlettohara
My vet thought my pekin had myco and she looked nothing like this poor girl - her eye was just red and swollen and cleared up after abx and with hindsight was probably just an infected wound. She never developed swollen sinuses and I was told myco is often one sided, puss would also be on the outside - the infection here is contained behind the eye. We have also ordered some purple spray and a chicken saddle which we hope might help ( I think she is going through a bad moult too) .Any advise greatly welcomed. scarlettohara
Use something like a shelf from your oven to divide the run during the day with a box for laying/hiding. Bring her in at night and either put her in a box on its side somewhere safe and quiet or in a cat carrier. I have a rabbit hutch you can borrow if not or a cat carrier - where are you ? Egluntyne
You could put a lattice of garden canes through the Eglu bars to form a barrier.
Cheryl
Its almost certainly a complication of myco, it affects the sinuses, you will need some Baytril, and she will be fine , my cockerel is recoveting from exactly the same thing
