Saffy has been injured by the others!!! Good news

Recommended Posts

poor Saffy what a traumatic life she has had, just as she began to regrow lots of feathers after being bald for so long I was horrified yesterday, the other three where attacking her :( she is in a state. many of the new quills have been pulled out & she was bleeding. I haven't been picking her up because I read on here that it can damage the new feathers & cause pain so hadn't realised how light she had got. the others seem to have stopped her getting to the food. she spent last night in the cat carrier in my downstairs loo!! She is eating & drinking & moving around and Ive put purple spray on the injuries (all over me too) and today Ive put her back into the run but inside the cat carrier. I dont know what else to do!!!!

she went back in with the others yesterday all covered in anti peck spray which seems to have done the trick, she is eating & drinking & standing up for herself but now seems very wobbly. She keeps falling over to one side & holding her neck in a very odd position, her legs do not seem to hold her up for long. Ive made an appointment at the vets :(

This could have been written by myself!! Rosie is almost bantam size compared to the other 3 bulldozers we've got, but there all exbatts. Rosie has been the same as your saffy, in that they seem to find blood amazing, but strangely also find the violet spray (yes, looks like we've done a bank job too all over our arms etc) almost as interesting.

Rosie has good appetite, and gives an egg a day even now. We used Jonstones antipeck spray, but they seem to enjoy it ;-( Now we've separated her (hurray for downstairs loos. What spray did you use?

the Johnsons anti peck spray dosnt deture them at all, but she is now fighting back

Poor Saffy does look a sight but the new feathers seem to be going well

The vet gave me some baytril & gave her aa shot yesterday but doesnt hold out much hope for her, she is an old girl now & its probrably best to put her to sleep but we'll see how the antibiotics go, vet agrees it could be an ear infection but could also be neurological poor old Saffy :(

Saffy had some magic medicine last night thanks to Fluffyfeet, not sure what it was but Saffy is very perky this morning, still ataxic but managed to chase Patsy accross the run after she pecked at her :) fingers crossed there may be life in the old girl yet

:D:clap::dance:8) good old bird does it again, against all the odds Saffy seems to have recovered, still very slightly wobbly butgobbling up lots of food & water & generally pecking back if any others peck her. Patsy is a naughty girl I saw her pulling Saffys chest feathers out yesterday, I'll need to separate her from the others at this rate  I got some bumper bits but they look very small for my girls not sure about them at the moment but hopefully things have settled enough now
