Minimeadows Farm

Recommended Posts

Having seen all your lovely acquisitions at the National & after, my MoreHens disease is entering an acute phase...

I really really want a salmon faverolle - and see that Minimeadows breeds them AND Speckled Sussex, which are also on my wish list......so.......I wondered what their reputation was? They aren't on the doorstep so I know that if I drive over there it will be very hard to return home empty handed if I don't like their set up...Advice please, oh founts of all knowledge...

There was a thread on this a short while ago - try a search

If I remember correctly most people said they had no experience of them but someone did post to say they had been there and they were very good and knowledgable

Its probably worth going to take a look around, many places that sell lots of breeds dont always have them available so go and take a look and see what you think before buying

I've just got mine from there. Clean place, nice set up and very helpful and birds look very healthy. They have a speckled sussex left 8) lovely girl.

Give him a ring to see what there is but also worth a visit. I asked if he had an orp and he had to scratch his head and think hard before remembering a couple that someone had reserved but taken something else.

He's open every morning even though the website says not but someone will be around so you can go sneak a look. Take old shoes if you go across to some of the sheds grounds getting a bit wet. :D

I got 4 new girls from Mini Meadows Farm 3 weeks ago...beautiful birds :D Very pleased with them and would definitely buy from there again :D Ben was very helpful :D I would give him a ring first to see if he has what you are after before you go. He always answered the phone promptly when I rang him :D The birds for sale free range which I really liked. I prefer to see them like that rather than kept in sheds. The place is set in 12 acres I believe...absolutely beautiful :D We had to travel for over an hour to get there...further than the place I have bought most of my hens from in the past...but it was worth it and I wish I had got all my girls from Mini Meadows...excellent girls and excellent service :D They are open more than it says on the website :D Just for your info there isn't a toilet there and the driveway was still being constructed...but Ben said it would be finished by the end of the week...and that was 3 weeks ago now. We found it easily using a Satnav but I have heard others say they found it difficult to find.

I got my first chooks from there 2 x golden partridge cochins 2 x sussex xs and 2 bluebells all 6 doing well and really nice birds. His birds are free roaming around his coops and are very clean. I didnt relise how clean untill i visited a garden center yesterday to buy so garvo feed. Talking to Ben he had visited over 50 dealers and He really wanted to try and have the best set up for the birds. His enthusiasm for what hes doing shows through and he couldnt be more helpfull.

We got out 4 pure breeds from Minimeadows Farm back in September. One of them is a Salmon Favorelle and I have to say she is beautiful. They were all about 14wks old when we got them, so are now nearly 26wks old and all of them are fine and we've had no problems at all with them and have so far been very impressed by the service we got from them :D

We were there a few weeks ago, hellish to find but we came back with a bantam Ancona, a bantam buff columbian brahma, a Copper blue, and on impulse, a Favorolle who is beautiful, whom we have called Joy because she is such a joy. All of them are in fine condition and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them. :D

I got my two cochins from Ben - on Easter Sunday. :D He had loads of breeds to choose from then and all were being kept really well. A long drive for me but I would go there again.

Glad to hear he's now got a driveway - when I went it was a muddy walk across two fields and a climb over two fences to get to the chooks

Our Favorelle was an impulse by on the part of my OH too. I had never even heard of them, never mind seen one. However one look and i was smitten with ours, they are just so beautiful and so very friendly too. I have often read that being such a heavy breed they are picked on but ours certainly has no problems with being bullied so far :)
