Solving Omlet Smart Auto Door Timing Issues with Alexa Routines

Hiya everyone - i've just bought a superglug from ebay and I think it has nipples underneath. (Firstly thought they were screws! Doh!) Omlet no longer sell superglugs with nipples - why? Is there a problem with them? Thanks

I'm not sure why they changed the design

 

I do know that many people found that their chooks wouldnt drink from the droppers though.. maybe it was just not popular

 

If you dont want your chooks to use it in the normal way then hang it low so they can drink from the top, dont let the droppers touch the ground though as they will let the water out!

I gave up on my superglug a while ago because they wouldnt drink from the nipples and kept pooing in it from above!!!

 

BUT - now the bunnies are in the WIR with them, they absolutely adore drinking from the bunny bottles - chickens eh?

That design had too many faults I think.

 

I use gravity drinkers suspended from the run roof.

They don't have nipples any more? Gosh, how convenient. I don't really like the ones with nipples, and none of mine seem all that happy drinking from them, even the ex-batts. Am going to try and fit a trip in to the Domestic Fowl Trust and pick up a bucket drinker soon as our hose doesn't run far enough to fill up the glugs in the WIR.

I've got two superglugs with nipples, and wouldn't trade them for the world! I've got 9 chickens and every one of them drank from them from day 1. Strange...

Mine was fine until I broke one of the nipples when it was frozen. I blanked the hole and they use it from above now but sit on it and poo in it so I gave up.

Most of mine were very happy to drink from the superglug. One lot, our most recent hatch, started drinking as soon as they were introduced to their Eglu at 4 weeks old, eventhough they'd only had ground drinkers as babies.

 

Am intererested to see what the new ones look like though, so I'm off to the Omlet shop now....,
