cazp1978
This morning we found our very first egg ever! It was very cold and we think its from yesterday as we shut up the eglu late when we got home so couldn't check. Its medium sized and speckedly. This afternoon our Rhode Island Red Blacktail was roosting so we think it was her although there hasn't been anymore today. Its very very eggciting! My 21 month toddler has just shouted "Buck Buck Egg!" all day! Thought I'd share this with you all because you understand - not many of my friends or family really care! green
It is truely exciting isnt it. I have been having eggs since end of Nov and am still very excited every time I see one. hope you get another one soon How true! Eggs are discussed on a daily basis in this house, hubby always announces (or I will ask) if there has been an egg in the nest when the chooks have been let out in the morning, and the same happens in the evening in case an egg has appeared later in the day. green
I got my chooks in October and my first egg in mid-Nov, the other chook's still not laying, but crouched for the first time a few days ago, so I'm hoping she'll start soon. The Bluebelle is a real trooper, she's laying almost daily and we've now had 11 eggs in 11 days.
catherinedon
3 of mine that I got in Aug started laying all at approx 30 weeks and one I got in Nov similar age started laying last week. So 4 out of 7 are laying and get an average 3 eggs a day.
cazp1978
We got another one this morning!! So two in two days. They look very different though. Yesterday's was smaller and dark and speckedly. Today's was bigger and not speckedly at all. Looked almost shop bought? But I doubt anyone's teasing me! Thanks for your posts re numbers of eggs. I read so many saying that we wouldn't get any during the winter, I'd almost resigned myself to that fact. Yesterday when we found the first, I phoned everyone in my family and told them. My daughter (21months) kept saying "Buck Buck Egg"! Today I texted everyone to tell them that we've had another one. If I get another one tomorrow, should I keep quiet?! I don't want to become annoying but am sooooooooo eggcited!!

green
I got excited today when I found 3 eggs in the nestbox for the first time in absolutely ages. Three eggs, yay! They must have realised you need some for making Christmas cakes. I love the second photo in your signature ANH, it came up on google when I was looking for a picture of a Bluebelle before I got my chooks. Snowy
Great news! I've been getting one a day from 11 hens, and only that because one of my new girls came into lay. But today we had a second egg - a little white one, so Lily the whitestar has also started laying! My egg skelter does look a little weird at the moment - all green eggs and one white one
