maggiesfarm
I found this in the chicken poo this afternoon, shell had a rubbery texture http://www.hallamdojo.co.uk/Photo015.jpg And when Andy burst it, this came out. http://www.hallamdojo.co.uk/Photo024.jpg It was mucosy, jellified and blood coloured. Is this a lash or should I be concerned, chickens chickening about as normal, they are about 2 and a half years old. Thanks.
Egluntyne
Looks more like a soft, blood filled egg. They happen sometimes and like lashes, are better out than in. If the hens seem OK you probably have nothing to worry about.
LolaLayla
Has anyone had a hard blood filled egg? Just reading about this made me want to ask as about 6 weeks ago I gave some eggs to my daughter and when she cracked one she said that there was a lot of blood in it, not just a blood spot. The girls were 22 weeks old when we got them in June and all the other eggs have been perfect. They are hybrids and still laying over winter although not as regularly as before. Both girls seem healthy. Any ideas if this is something similar to original post?

Its just a one off I think - something went wrong!
LolaLayla
I now crack mine into a cup before using just incase but have not had anymore. As you say seems like something went wrong on one occasion. Thanks for letting me know I was not the only one to have this,
