Incy's on but I'm a bit confused ! Brinsea Min Advance

Recommended Posts

Got my Brinsea mini advance today, have followed instructions and put it to run for 24 hours. However when I come to put the eggs in I have some questions:

What time interval should bantams eggs be set to turn ?

Could someone explain simply about the water/humidity ?

If I set the turner to auto, this should stop 2 days before end of hatch ?

Should bantam eggs be set for 18 days and should store them pointy end down at room temp before incubating?

Thanks, I'll probably think of some more :anxious:

The day you set them is Day 0. Should take 18 days but can be more like 21.

Turn them 3 of 5 times a day ... don't know if it'll constantly but slowly turn them or do it 3 times a day.

Not sure about turning the auto turner off

I'd maybe run it dry then add water 2 days before they're due.

Store them Bottoms Up :D

Good luck! (hatch)

My Rcom 20 turns once every hour, day and night, with an annoying tune each time  I'm sure less frequently is fine but I've got no way of changing it.

There is no simple way of explaining humidity, everyone does it whichever way suits their environment & incubator but it's trial and error to find what that is. I've tried incubating dry until the last few days and that doesn't work well for me. The last time it was set to 45% throughout, they started hatching at 45 too but when I raised it to 65% the remaining ones were DIS  So this time I'm not going to raise it and will see what happens. I'll soon let you know! Two have pipped so far but are not out yet.....

I've just had a sucessful hatch of large fowl with one I left the autoturn set at 45mins and kept the one half of the water pot topped up one thing I did wrong was to set the timer without switching the bator off then back on first I'd had it running for 3 days to make sure it was ok it reulted in the timer being just over half a day out

I'd also take the egg ring out when the turn cycle has finnished when you top the water up it'll give the egg more room to move when hatching starts I also had a condesation issue with the last 2 chicks to hatch I'd taken the first 4 out and topped the water back up that was a mistake I should have left it half full it slowed the drying down once I removed the water and dried the unit out the 2 chicks dried out before my eyes

also my hatch was early had eggs pip on day 19 and hatch on day 20 I think next time I'll set them to hatch midweek not on a Friday

my topic is just down the list from here
