Meet the Chicks !!

Recommended Posts

After last years disaster, I swore I was never going to try and raise chicks again!!

But reading this thread....I've been eyeing up my incy... :wall::doh:

I've got a mantra going in my head "Buy POL - it's easier!" ...not much of a mantra but I'm hoping it's enough!! :anxious:

:lol::lol::lol:

My hatching eggs have just arrived - OMG they are such a gorgeous brown - im planning on putting them under my broody on friday as I need to finish the set up, any recommendations i.e. temperature i need to keep them until then?

I think you should keep them at a coolish room temperature, but the important thing is to keep the temperature as constant as you can.

Hurry up and finish that set up!!!! :wink:

Edited to add that it is only my impatience that wants you to hurry up, the eggs should be fine waiting.

The poor little poot is having a hard time, the others have spent the last couple of days picking off her plaster and made her toes bleed. I put the spacer I got from ebay on today which is really good (I got different sizes and hers is the smallest ) they are still pecking her feet despite them being covered in purple spray :( How long shall I leave her corrector on and what will happen to her if her legs don't improve ?

:lol: Roobaloo, it sounds to me like you might be hatching quite soon! :lol:

I actually put my incy and electric hen up in the attic last night, hoping that out of sight was truly out of mind....we'll ignore the fact I've already spent an hour today looking at hatching eggs on ebay! :wall::doh:

I'm not sure how long, but I would think there should be some progress within 5 days due to the growth rate. I have a feeling that newly hatched should wear them for 3 days...but as it's a few days old then it might take a little longer.

I would isolate it though, if the others are pecking still. :(

I guess the prognosis depends on how bad it is...? :? Hopefully someone will more knowledge will be able to advise!
