scarlettohara
Very excited and nervous, had a couple of dry runs and just put 7 bantam eggs in. Fingers crossed Here they are They kept threatening to jump off the brooder 3 millefleur wyandotte bantams at the front, red wyandotte bantam on far right Here is lemon poot who I think has splayed leg - the little black/yellow pekin is successfully pecking off her/his plaster I have called the pekin Gnomio Edited February 28, 2011 by Guest

scarlettohara
The temp alarm went off after about 1/2 hour after setting, so I panicked and put it in another room, it went back to 37.5 quite quickly - will the eggs be OK ? I realised afterwards that the kitchen window was open
chicken bark
Good luck with it. I'm not going down the incy route but hope I get a broody hen later in the year. Trying to keep it as easy for myself as possible. What bantam breeds have you gone for?
scarlettohara
A mix of wyandottes and a random pekin egg that I was given (got them from Cathy on Practical Poultry forum)

sjp
about day 7 or 10 then day 18 if you can wait that long If you aren't sure what a clear egg looks like candle an egg out of the fridge any that look the same are duds any that are dark are either going to go bang or are growing so put then back in the warm to carry on growing
Lewis
You could candle them tonight or tomorrow night and should be able to see something growing in them and veins on the inside of the shells

scarlettohara
Just candled them - 6 out of 7 fertile Pretty sure I did it right - saw the veins, air sac at the top and even saw some moving !? One little poot egg had nothing in - should I throw it away So exciting like having a scan when you are pregnant Brilliant little candling torch that was £5.99 on ebay.
