sparkysmum
Hi Vicki, how are you feeling Hope the weather is kind to you on Saturday Good luck, go burn them roads, gal
Ain't Nobody Here
Thanks, Alli . Feel OK although I'm sure the nerves will start soon . Haven't run since Sunday but step class yesterday and step/zumba today should keep things loosened off . My legs haven't been the slightest bit sore since the 12 miles on Sun . I've got company tomorrow - one of OH's acquaintances was asking if anyone was driving up and could give him a lift. I've never met him before but at least it's someone to talk to (and to drive me home if I'm incapable ). He'll have a wait at the end though, he's doing it in about 1.30 . Bramble
Good luck for tomorrow ANH! I am sure you'll be fine and I'll be thinking of you doing your half-marathon as I continue in my sad effort to reach 5k!!! Go for it
jlo
Just done the Hook Fun Run and was just over an hour for six miles.
Bramble
Well done jlo, i'm very impressed!! I've just done run 1 of week 9, the final week of couch to 5k, just two more runs to go, but found it very hard this morning, hardest so far, even though I ran further and for longer on Thursday

Someone on here (sorry can't remember who) suggested that I may be dehydrated when I had a session like that. Don't get disheartened though - you are doing really well! I totally agree, you are doing so well . I think it might have been Chucky Mama who suggested dehydration?
Chucky Mama
It was me, dehydrated in a killer in terms of running. Drink enough to keep your urine pale/virtually colourless
Bramble
I'll be doing a lot more running then, mostly to the loo! Seriously, thanks for the tip and encouragement, today was tough but it hasn't put me off (least I don't think it has ) I've just done the same route, but this time walking with dog, at least that's disproved one of my theories - I now KNOW I can run faster thanI walk
Ain't Nobody Here
How's this for a coincidence ? OH and I were doing a different race on the same day, one hour apart, and both had the same race number (205) .

Bramble
Just finished week 9, run 2, felt MUCH better than when I did the same run on Sunday but I'm still VERY slow Only one more run left of couch to 5k (not that I'm anywhere near doing 5k in 30mins ) but keep telling myself how much progress I've made in 9 weeks - there's no way I could ever have dreamed of running for this long when I started, even though I'm still slow
Ain't Nobody Here
Fantastic . You really don't have to worry about speed, just work on your stamina and distance and the speed will come naturally (not that it really matters anyway!) . Bramble
Thank you ANH, your advice is much appreciated! Im just going to keep plugging away until I can do 5k relatively comfortably (whether that be in 30 mins or not) and then decide what to do from there, whether to try to run faster (I could hardly be any slower ) or for longer or a bit of both! Im already thinking about how I'll cope with running in the Winter, most roads around here are unlit so it might have to be winter gym membership ... but that's a problem I've got a little while to think about
Ain't Nobody Here
My OH has a headtorch he wears for night-time hill running . My half marathon results are up . Official chip time was 02.08.45 (only 3 seconds off my watch time ). I was 335th out of 386 which sounds pretty rubbish but considering the number of club runners and the fact that it's not a mainstream event, I'm quite happy . Bramble
Yay, well done ANH Well, that's my nine weeks all done, just finished run 3, still not at 5k yet but definitely get a bit further each time, just going to keep plugging away, I think and maybe look for some new routes! Not sure I like the thought of a head torch though!!!
sparkysmum
Have been so involved with little poot that running's been sidetracked. So just popping in for a bit Vicki, how are you after your amazing run last weekend. Sore Tired . Is your Poppy OK Bramble You've done it Fantastic. Bet you feel proud I had a jog about with my usual crew & really enjoyed it & hope to go for a long one tomorrow, with lots of stops of course Keep on running. Ain't Nobody Here
Alli, so glad little poot is rallying round . Amazingly, I had no sore bits after the run at all . I fully expected to be struggling to walk . Just had to run to step and back again (no car as OH is in Gairloch running 18 miles over a couple of Munroes ) and found it hard work on the uphill home but made it! I checked out the photos on the Kinross website and there isn't a single one of me (thankfully ) but there's one of Sparkysdad at the finishing line . cathybc
Well done Bramble! Amazing. I have been lurking on here but am so behind everyone else, on week 5. Next run is supposed to be 20 mins, seems a big leap from 8 mins.....am putting it off......
Bramble
Ooooh, keep going cathybc, I know EXACTLY what you mean about it being a big leap from 2x 8mins to 20 mins, I felt just the same, but was amazed to find it was fine, yes it was hard and you need to pace yourself, but all I can say is trust in the podcasts (are you doing the NHS plan?) they really do work, if you've followed the plan you WILL be able to do it!!! Keep me posted on your progress!!
Ain't Nobody Here
Welcome, Cathybc . You could do worse that emulate Bramble, she's done brilliantly .
