Sounds like it may be crop stasis where the hen can't move the food through. If it is that then she needs some metaclopromide from vets to get things moving.

If it is sour crop then it will stink, I liken the smell to gone off salad cream. Feeding only wet mash, with live yoghurt can help, along with antibs and nystatin to keep on top of the bac and yeast.

Ok, firstly has she been wormed?

Eating and drinking ok, but not gaining weight could be a variety of things. Worms being my first thought.

I would bath her and get rid of the much from her rear end. Cut away any really matted feathers with blunt ended scissors (easier with two people)!

vent gleet is one possibility? Usually white pasty droppings though...?

She could have egg peritonitis, can you feel any fluid in her abdomen?

Sounds like she might need a trip to the vet again.

Hope she pulls through!

now bad loss of appetite spends most of the day in the nesting box asleep now giving anti bocs ,but i think we may have to put her to sleep as shes getting weaker every day!

our vet was useless at diagnostics last time ,and it still cost £50 how much money do you spend on a sick chicken?

in the end cured the sour crop from posts on here!

cheers for the advice but i think her time is up!
