excited but starting to stress...

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I know that this thread has probably been 'done to death' but i'm so excited i can't help myself.....

After losing my poorly Gladys 2wks ago to peritonitis i've decided to get some more chooks (4) to go with Hilda and May that have been left behind...We pick them up in the morning ...we are all prepared...even made a brilliant extention on to 'cluckingham palace'.We have never introduced any newby's before but expecting 'fireworks'.In my mind i'm hoping when they see each other they will greet each other with big hugs and kisses and all will be wonderful...Mmmm...Well i've always had a good imagination...Best have a whiskey just to calm my nerves before bed...Wish me luck....

Hi,

Well,we got the new chooks,Florence ,Mabel,Eliza and Ada...Did'nt realise my sweet little Hilda and May were such tyrants :shock:After lots of advice and reading books i took the distraction route....9 cabbages hanging up..strawberries,yoghurt and meal worms galore.....still had the fisty cuffs but so far just short sharp shocks...had the newbys and my old girls in adjoining runs and doing the intros in shifts...I spent yesterday afternoon sat in the run with them all armed with a stick, glass of whiskey and fags playing referee...we all had our fair share of shouting but come bedtime off they all tootled in single file to bed  today they have all been out wandering together...no major problems so far even though it's early days. All gone to bed as good as gold again so lets hope it continues  Our 2 young golden retrievers (Archi and Theo) have been assisting with the process aswell.Yes it's been stressful but have thoroughly enjoyed my weekend...all good stuff.... :D
