I think Snowy was laying before we got her - and I ate Belle's and Willow's first eggs - they were normal and tasty. Congrats on your new girls, can't wait to see pics. Chortle Chook
a friend of mine who has chickens says not to eat the eggs until they are 3 days old as the whites need to settle, has anyone else heard of this or is she playing an april fools joke on me? I'm sure that is an April fool. Surely In the early days, before Morehens OCD got the better of me, I ate the eggs from my girls asap. Now I hardly know what to do with all the eggs and all my neighbours are eating them asap
fluffy chick
We ate our first eggs, I think it's an old wives tale! It's dark now, the chooks are in bed. So where are the pics !?

Love the way they toddle off to bed xx Dee They are all very different. I drive home from school wondering how many eggs I will find, they are so pleased to see you as they know they will get their treats soon. The ex batts that I got on Sunday are completely different, very quiet, no rushing to get out of the eglu in the morning, I am amazed that they take themselves to bed without any help from me. After three years finding eggs is still exciting I weigh and record all of mine in a database Chrissie
