Edward Stobart RIP

Recommended Posts

Oh goodness, how sad and sympathies to The Stobarts. Saw a documentary about the Company a while ago and was SO impressed; shirt and tie for all drivers etc. Very professional! 8)

We always play an 'Eddie' game on long car journeys; at the start each one 'guesses' how many 'Eddies' we'll see throughout the journey and the nearest wins! Won't be quite the same now! :(

Blimey, 56 !!!

Heart problems, I gather.

His father started the company here in Cumbria and Edward who later ran it sold it to his brother to pursue other things.

PS How do you get a lorry named after you?

I recall there was a competition to find one of the trucks with a :?: instead of a name and if you spotted it you were put in a draw to have a name inscribed on one of the lorries.

We were fan club members & spotters,so we got a book with all the truck names & details, which we ticked off as we saw them.

I think we just wrote & applied to get the trucks named for the children 8)

I still have the official naming certificates in their baby books :D
