Ever felt a twit?

Recommended Posts

As I draw near to 50 and eyesight and hearing being not as good as it was I seem to make more of a twit of myself than ever. My hearing isnt brilliant and my mum lost hers in her 40's and I have had tests and although I dont need an aid yet I fully accept I might in the not too distant future. I struggle most in crowded settings.

Yesterday a friend and I turned up a day late for a meeting at the vicarage - some mix up or other and my friend said " oh dont worry we'll go to the pub" to the vicar and his wife. We didnt as I was getting over a sickness bug and she was tired. So today at the social after the memorial service we had all attended the vicar came up and said to me " are you going to the pub?" blimey I thought 3 o clock in the afternoon so I replied " oh its a bit early for me - prob in my youth 3 o clock would have been ok" - yes you've guessed he actually said " did you go to the pub":oops: I felt a right twit and we laughed at my faux pas - I said to OH he must think I was a scarlet woman in my youth

I mishear things too. The best one was when I was playing badminton and chatting to my friend over the net. I had told her some story or other and then I thought she said that she had gout and naturally I expressed concern about this. She actually said that I shouldn't be allowed out
