I lay in this morning and could hear them grumbling in their pod. When I opened the door all 3 tried to get out at once so non got out - it was like the 1st day of Harods sale. I dont leave door open as they are very noisey these bright mornings mind you with the crows, traffic and dawn chorus not sure if they would be heard.

My older ones in the cube all try to get out together, lots of flapping as they try to negotiate the ladder at the same time, but it is not big enough for six

 

The ex batts just gracefully wander out of their eglu when they are ready no rushing those girls

All my new girls rush out of the in the mornings straight to the food; where as my elderly rescued hen justs strolls (or struts, as we think she may be turning into a bit of a cockeral ) out

This morning we found 2 hens both in the nest box in the classic ... i dont think they could wait

Lol - I know that feeling!

Even though I have 3 boxes, they all prefer one, but will use the second, but its very rare I will collect an egg from box 3.

My friend says the same thing.

I think its because its the box nearest the door, maybe a bit too 'open', or a bit too 'light' for them.

Fussy little so and so's!! lol

Yep, I know that feeling, I too give my girls extra nest boxes, but they will only use the cube! Most will share, but my little Appenzeller refuses
