wexbuster Posted April 23, 2011 Share Posted April 23, 2011 Hi, I have three chickens for the past year. I was getting 3 eggs regularly until recently where only two eggs are layed each day. When cleaning the poop tray I noticted two egg yokes in the tray but no egg shell at all. This is making me think that there is something wrong with one of the chickens. Any suggestions please... With first eggs (which are usually softies) I find are usually in the droppings tray. You could try adding some crushed eggshell to their feed for extra calcium or liquid calcium to their water. Cut out any treats apart from fresh green leaved veg and ensure they are taking in a decent quantity of good quality mash or pellets. Cut out any treats apart from fresh green leaved veg and ensure they are taking in a decent quantity of good quality mash or pellets. I think worming them is the next step. Thanks. hennyjenny Posted May 7, 2011 Share Posted May 7, 2011 I have stopped giving mine corn as a treat as I discovered this caused one of them to lay soft eggs (my hens are only a year old) so they just get layers pellets and free range a little each day on grass with the odd green treats too. Kind Regards, Wexbuster I have tried giving them grit and have wormed them. Still soft eggs appearing every odd day. One of the hens is loosing her feathers from front (Breast) area.
