tracyann
Been on here a while, as you know and wondered how many of us are from Essex?? There doesn't seem to be many poultry club events in Essex, and why not? There are lots of breeders based in Essex....
stoice
I'm from Essex! **waves vigorously!** I don't know why there doesn't seem to be many poultry events in Essex. I usually look out for the country shows, such as the Tendring show, as they usually have a poultry section. I also like to go to any of those shows when on holiday (Perfect timing, purely coincidental! ) I thought the dorset show last year was good. Nicola O
Me too *waves*. Tracyann - There is a guy in Basildon, who has his own poultry forum, who has run auctions in Hullbridge for the last couple of years. And I'm sure I read in the local paper a few weeks ago about someone who is going to start an auction in Grays (I think) soon. Stoice - I've not been to a country show yet (didn't know of any that were reasonably local) but learnt about the Orsett Show last year - then managed to break my ankle two weeks before it so I'm looking forward to going this year. Chicken shack
My postal address is Essex although it is more like east London, and is called the London Borough Of Redbridge so do I count as London or Essex or both
Olly
*waves* proud to be from Essex, too!
Redwing
Most poultry clubs are historically for people keen on poultry showing so usually run by show enthusiasts (but for a much wider audience nowadays) people that breed poultry purely to sell are not usually the drivers of a sucessful club so while an area has a lot of breeders it doesnt always follow that there will be a lot of clubs Having said that there are a few clubs about, Colchester has a club, there is a Suffolk and Essex Club and a very sucessful group called the West Essex Bantam Club
