j00lz_12366
well...they WERE doing well..and i started adding a little bit of pellet to their food to help then with the transition from crumb to pellet and now....they wont touch the crumb!!!! they literally pick out the pellets and then shout for more.. the problem is, that I had added a bag of pellet to the bag and a half of crumb in their feed box..so now I ma having to try to sieve out the crumb and it looks like i'll have to just throw it..any ideas how to get them to eat it rather than just bin it all..?? Thanks
Tweety
I would just leave the crumbs in their bowl until they have eaten it - I hate waste, and I doubt that they will allow themselves to starve!
stoice
You could add some water to a handful of crumb and and make a porridge? I do that when i want to make sure the girls get some spice or limestone flour when i have a bout of softies. you can also put in treats in the mix too. j00lz_12366
well..i'm obviously not as strong as some of you are, but i also hate waste so... I've used the crumb that was in the bottom of their feeder-whats left after they pick the pellets out-to make a porridge-and added some frozen sweetcorn..when it had cooled down/defrosted they wolfed it down!!! Purplemaniacs
Are you moving them onto the ex batts pellets? You have had yours slightly longer than me and I was just wondering what to buy when we get to the end of the second bag of ex batts mash? j00lz_12366
to be honest I just got them the pellets that were at Pets at home-the thinking was I would give them these as an extra-like a treat and gradually get them used to them..I had been thinking of getting some mixed corn but o/h said why not get pellets and start to transfer them over slowly-so they were in addition to the crumb so I didnt go for ex batt stuff...but then they loved them so much they wont eat the crumb...gggrrr So, on the advice of another forum member I have started with the porridge-they get this as their treat now, except it is actually their normal food with a v small amount of extras..and it seems to be working-I just didnt want to waste the crumb cos it was v expensive! Ive also been adding a little grit to the porridge as an incentive to eat that too How are your lot doing now, are they eating better? I had a worry with Cissy yesterday, she seemed to go suddenly v sad-stood all on her own, hunched up, not even wating mealworms..she did go to bed with the rest tho, and this morning seems back to her normal self tho..i will be keeping an eye on her (I thought she was the healthiest out of the 4!)
