atsw
That's a great picture, made OH and I laugh over our moring cup-of-tea . How can you tell he is a 'he' already?? I have just had 5 pekins hatch last weekend, so would be interested to know how you can tell so early! With Pekins you can usually tell after just a few weeks. Mine are two weeks old this weekend, and I think I've got 4 girls and 1 boy. In general, the boys will have a much more upright stance and be more forthright around the others. Physically, the comb on their head is much more distinct, clearly rising up from the top of the beak and protruding more from the head with a saw-tooth look. After a few more weeks the boys start to delvelop small, but very clear, wattles under their beak which go red quite quickly. When I last hatched Pekins, in 2009, I took lots of photos every week to track progress. Have a look here, and in particular watch how the black chick developes, he's one of four boys who hatched (and now the proud father of the chicks that hatched this Easter ) Andrew

Mollie333
I just expect them all to be boys, so if i get a girl, it's a bonus. I think i have at least 3 boys from my other hatch (20th April)
