beach chick
please please everyone be careful! I have literally just (2 minutes ago, so 1.40pm) wandered out to the garden - to see a large, rangy fox trotting purposefully up to my girls, who were all outside in their electric fenced area. I shouted and he ran off through the hedge - while the dog was fast asleep in the sunshine. so just a reminder to everyone, it's not just dawn, dusk and during the night that foxes are on the hunt, be watchful during the day as well especially if your girls are FRing. migsy
That must make you so nervous, Beach Chick, but at least you know it is there. A fox crossed the road in front of me last night and it did cross my mind to speed up Of course, I didn't though.
beach chick
A fox crossed the road in front of me last night and it did cross my mind to speed up Of course, I didn't though. I was considering 'methods' last night... but there seem to be so many potential drawbacks that I dont think I could do any of them
vickichicky
Lost my Amber Girly Bank holiday monday 2nd May at 5pm in bright sunshine Fox got her in my front garden! They haven't been allowed out to FR since unless accompanied by me at all times (so only the odd half hour here and there) Bought some 6ft chain link fencing & 8ft posts which my brothers mate is going to put up for me soon. Won't be the same as letting them have the whole garden & horses fields beyond but cant take the risk anymore as the OH has seen the evil thing at the end of the garden twice since then Vicki
Groovychook
We see lots of foxes in the daytime and I'm always aware that if I leave the chooks unattended, a fox could be there in a flash. The other week, in the late afternoon, we watched a fox being chased around the field at the back of the garden by a deer! They went round and round in circles until the fox jumped over the hedge into the woods, closely pursued by the deer. A moment later, the wily old fox jumped back into the field having lost the deer in the woods! It was amazing to watch... wish I'd had a camera to hand to film it. ... wish the fox chasing deer would come and hang out in the field more often too! Seagazer
I don't let mine fr now at all, well apart from Ginger who went to chicken heaven a week ago (not by fox I hasten to add). I've had 2 foxes in my garden at the same time during the day. The other day they destroyed 2 bags of chicken bedding that I'd not got around to taking to the dump. It was all over the place. I could have killed a fox that day (not really ). I hope your girls keep safe.
Space Chick
We were woken up by panicked alarm bokking this morning at 5am and there was a fox in the garden Thankfully they were safe in the WIR, but I'm going to have to tighten up free ranging
