Chucky Mama
ES's car battery went flat at the weekend and his keys have stopped centrally locking (& unlocking) the car. We think the key battery is fine but that they need re programming to the car. Does anyone know how to do it
Geoid
What make/model is the car, it is different depending on the make.

The Dogmother
Hmmm, try calling a dealership and asking them.
abwsco
Would imagine a car locksmith would be cheaper than a dealer. I know they were for us when DD needed one.
snowberry
Do you have key cover on your motor or house insurance? That might be an option.
Chucky Mama
Thankfully he can still get in and out of the car ok it is the remote locking and unlocking that he can't do (maybe I should have said that in the beginning ). So it is more of an inconvenience than anything else.

Chucky Mama
Thanks MH, I will pass that on to ES. He may just go for the old fashioned way of opening a car door - it's much cheaper
whoopsie
It depends what programming it needs. If the car has an onboard computer (as most do now) you will have to find someone with the appropriate equipment to reprogram the keys for you. Not a cheap job i'm afraid.
