Online drugs - pharmacy :/

Recommended Posts

Bit worried as OH and colleagues are bulk buying a sleeping aid Online :(

I clocked the product and questioned due to liver damage

& safety margin being very narrow - have said to keep well out of reach of children - but not happy :('

Is this common practice to buy over the net - surely I am not that naive :(

Seriously worried

I feel like I'm probably out of touch so can't say whether this is normal but it doesn't sound sensible at all  . But if your OH and his colleagues have sleeping problems that suggests serious stress at work is behind the sleeping problems (apologies if you already knew and I'm stating the obvious).

I don't sleep well but that is normal for me :( (and sad though it sounds I've found hot skimmed milk with cinnamon makes a difference). But if sleep problems happened more recently your OH needs to go talk to his GP.

I think many people forget that all drugs are alien to the body and therefore potentially poisonous to some degree or other...even natural herbs...Sorry because I know this is not very comforting SarahJo but I would be worried too...can you get him interested in some other, non chemical solution to his sleep problems??

 I did suggest something from our local pharmacy would be better - and earplugs. They all work shifts, so its supposed to help on nights :( Personally I have told OH of risks and that I am not happy about it, but his work mates "swear" by this drug and I think he has joined the bandwagon

Thanks for the replies

I can understand your concerns, I wouldn't be happy either. Is it available over the counter, as I don't think a proper online pharmacy should be selling drugs in this country that are prescription only , without a prescription :?

I recently bought some generic Piriton online, first time I have ever done so, and because it was three packs for £2.40 with free delivery. Piriton is an over the counter medication but one of those which can only be sold with a pharmacist present. The website asked quite a lot of questions before it would take my money, and the medication arrived, signed off by a pharmacist. It's a UK based business too. I was only happy to buy this way as I have taken Piriton for many years with no side effects and am taking no other medication at present.

Just a word in support of online pharmacies. Having arthirtis I take two Paracetamol (acetaminophen) at night. I used to buy a hundred a time for €2.80. Then the government said pharmacist could only sell them fifty a time. This was because of the suicide rate in Ireland! as if fifty wouldn't kill you. The price went up to €1.50 for fifty, then the pharmacist put the price up to €2.50 for fifty!. Well to cut a long story short I purchased a thousand tablets from the USA for €1.15 per fifty. That's the total cost P&P and VAT included, and before anyone asks they come sealed in 500 caplet (sic) tubs use by date 4/2013, manufactured in the US of A.... :)
