Fluffy knickers is still broody. I feel so mean about a sin

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Fluffy knickers is still broody & looking thinner over this week. Is it more unfair to let her stay this way & keep shutting her out of the eglu when I can or should I really use a broody sin bin?

I suppose the other option is to get some more ready to hatch eggs from the yard seeing as her friend bertie had only 1 hatch last week & the baby will be on it's own Inbetween mum leaving it & it going in with the big girls.

I guess we are going to get this quite often with her so I know that the crate is what I am going to have to do. Maybe I can go away for the weekend and let someone else be mean!

I have been reading up on other posts with the same problem & I know that I have to do it............. Just don't want to! Think I need to go & polish the dog crate!

Another stupid question!

I have put her in the dog crate but it is in the wir but it is in sight of her eglu(where she nests) and she can hear the other broody in a sectioned off part with her new baby. Does this matter or should I put her in the shed on her own? It will be cooler & have more breeze in the run .

Kids and horses are so much easier!,

Thanks

a rather stressed out Penelope x

Ahhh thanks. I really don't think I could manage locking her up in the shed too!

I am really glad we got the biggest wir that we could fit in. It's got room for 1 broody in a sin bin. 1 mummy and baby along 1 side of it & 1 very puzzled "normal" hen who is wondering why everyone has gone mad!

I am going to have a stiff drink & ignore her now!

I still have 3 broody. i had one in a broody cage for 4 days but it didn't work and I gave in

I've now moved another broody into the cage we are on day 2 today. I don't feel too bad, I mean if they are happy to sit and look at the inside of a nest for 3 weeks then a broody cage should be much more entertaining! At least they can see what's going on

Hi fluffy chick

I guess they are only doing what comes naturally. If it was just the fact that I didnt have eggs from her for a while I could put up with that as they are pets first & egg layers as a bonus. I would just like to get back to normal with my 3 girls!

I hope yours sort themselves out really soon x
