Garvo - so hard to find a stockist

Recommended Posts

"Does anyone living close-ish to Preston, Lancs want Garvo? I could order some in when I'm next ordering (£9.50) and pick up - they'd have to collect from me though "

It might be an idea not to order in lots of Garvo before you have even got your girls, if they are currently on another feed you will need to switch them gradually.

is it disappearing as wastage or are they actually guzzling it?

no it's not wastage it's guzzling both feeder are hanging up the big girls feeder is a metal one with a deep bowl thats adjustable and if got it set with a small gap on the feed tube so there is only a small layer of pellets in the bowl as a couple of them are a bit picky and given half a chance will flick the feed out looking for just the right bits

the pullets have kicked most of their woodchip under the raised house so there is only a thin covering over the slabs so I'd see any feed spliage under the feeder

I suppose the fact that they are laying will be the explanation. Their appetites increase massively.

it could be they have filled out since they started to lay although they are very good layers yet

I hope so too - I did suggest to him that he looked at all the comments about the difficulties we were having in obtaining the stuff - and he did ...... although he felt that some comments about him not answering emails etc were unfair. I must say, he has always answered my emails really promptly - but whether he manages to deliver what he has pledged to Sevenoaks Saddlery remains to be seen....watch this space

Speaking really generally and not with reference to any supplier but Garvo's minimum order requirements are quite high - to get a certain price a stockist must buy X amount then next time they must buy more and so on

Once stockists find out how much they have to buy and how little there is profit in it they may well back out from the deal as they dont know what their local demand may be for it so its quite a gamble, I have heard of stockists selling of short dated bags etc.. as they just havent been able to sell all of their stock promptly and advertising has not been as widespread as they had hoped

Well my Girlies went on hunger strike this week for 4 days :shock:

Then they finally gave in and ate the marriage pellets, as can no longer justify paying almost £20 a sack for Garvo.

Few years ago would have given in to them but I suppose its a bit like when you have your next child, you learn from experience and can be a bit tougher if need be.

All hens now eating normally and saving a massive £50 a month.!!!
