Mr Rhode Island Red
My four 8 week old chicks (Two Anconas and 2 Orpingtons) seem to be rather wild and unsettled at times, particularly when cleaning out their house or moving the pull-along ark through the garden. I know that Anconas are known to be "flighty" as a breed. But Orpingtons are supposed to be very docile. Any tips to calm them down? All replies appreciated Mr Rhode Island Red
witzend
maybe you could distract them by scattering some treats??
Redwing
The trick is to handle them as much as possible really They will naturally calm down as they get older though, as chicks if one panics they all panic!
sparkysmum
Agree with Redwing. I think calmness comes with maturity. I have recently acquired 2 Scots Dumpies who are as docile as a bag of ferrets

Egluntyne
No sudden moves and plenty of handling is the way to go.
coco
I have three seven week old chicks, two pekins and a chocolate bantam orpington, so far I haven't been able to handle them as they are very quick and tend to jump a lot, also mum is still very protective. I'm hoping as they get older they will settle down.
