Wondering if my pied suffolk pullet is a roo!

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I bought 2 new POL's last week.... settling in is going *ok*, the usual bickering, but I am wondering if my Pied suffolk is a he!

She is big (but that I expected with the breed) and has legs like tree trunks with teeny little spurs on them. Her headgear is a bit more developed than the other pullet, but she has quite a deep throaty voice (no crowing though) and her feathering is more 'extravagant' than the other girls.

I know very little about sexing and she is my first pied suffolk so I am not sure if she is typical, or if she is a he!

I have attached some pics for those more experienced, if someone wouldn't mind helping...?

I think it's a girl if it's pol 16-18 weeks old

I've got a speckled sussex cross that I thourght was a boy right up to 19 weeks old when she started to lay her head gear was a lot bigger than her sister's

I'd have thorught she'd be crowing by know to

Well looks like the jury is out but pullet seems likely! :D

I do hope so - the photos don't do her justice, she is a gorgeous bird and I'd hate to have to part with her. She just looks so 'different' from the others! She just has a bit more presence about her.

Yes Egluntyne about the neighbours! Things have quietened so hopefully my neighbour will back off a bit. Now I am just waiting for the comments re the smell/flies/rats :vom:
