Poached Egg Posted July 2, 2011 Share Posted July 2, 2011 Last Sunday Evening(26/6) we noticed Louise our Gold Laced Orpington was not looking very happy and on closer inspection it was obvious she was not at all well. Monday morning and off to the vets with her,the vet diagnosed Egg peritonitis She gave two options - PTS or try a course of antibiotics but warned that Louise was not likely to survive. Decided to give the antibiotics(baytril) a go but would watch her closely as we didnt want her to suffer. Within a couple of hours Louise start to perk up but was still not well,the TLC continued and by the following morning she was still improving and the vet gave a further dose and pescribed some more for us to administer,the vet went on to say she hadnt expected Louise to survive the night. The recovery continued and she amazed us by laying a Egg Wednesday morning.By the afternoon she was well enough to go back with the rest of the Flock.Another Egg laid Friday and she is back to normal ,we are continuing to watch her closely.
