charity shops

Recommended Posts

Ok, I live near banbury and am after some recomendations for which town to go to for some good charity shops. I am not just looking for good every day clothes, but also things I can pick up to adapt for stage costumes. I know Henley can be good but have found that very expensive for a charity shop buy.. Has anyone got any other ideas? Driveable distance would be good...

The Birmingham ones are very good, and plenty could be accessed by using the no 11 bus, which circuits the city both clockwise and anti clockwise. A daysaver ticket is £3.60 and I would recommend Kings Heath, Cotteridge, Bearwood and Harborne, that would take a whole day if you were quick and should cover about 30 charity shops.

There is a website where you can put town names and postcodes in and it will show you how many shops and the finer datail for any given area.

www.charityshops.org.uk

The only trouble with charity shops is the stock changes rapidly, and ones where bargains have been had might not be so good the following day or week. It really is a case of visiting regularly to get good stuff.

I love charity shops :D but I agree, you have to look on a regular basis, I sometimes find loads of stuff, and other times I cant find a thing.

yesterdays purchases were...

a glass carafe with a glass that sits on the top of it, £2.50

a pair of M&S jeans £1

an M&S shirt £1

a tweed jacket £1

i was rather pleased with myself

we have a really good range of charity shops up here, actually we have more charity shops than normal shops
