I forgot to thank everyone for their advice. I finally got one from Hen House Poultry as suggested, back in early September. She is a grand chook, a bit nervous but hasn't laid anything yet even after two months!

Will she come into lay soon or is that it for the winter?

I would say that she probably will come into lay, but it be later than is usual for a hybrid and is likely to be erratic. Hens need a certain amount of daylight to produce an egg, and the lack of daylight is slowing down her develoment in this area.

Hope that makes sense.

H

Thanks Witchazel! Her lack of laying appears to have spread to Mrs Pepperpot who happily laid all winter last year but appears to have joined Wiggy in sympathy!
