18th Birthday Pressie ideas needed

Recommended Posts

My daughters boyfriend of 3 years is 18 next week & I need ideas on what I can get him.

His Mum got my girl a nice (although not her style0 locket for her 18th,so I feel sort of obliged to get him something along the keepsake line, rather than a fun t-shirt,or bottle of something, which was my first thought.

Budget of around £30,I guess.......

I do find it difficult with men, especially for occasions where something 'permanent' is needed. How about a cover for his iPod or phone - for £30 you could probably get a good one?

Must admit I'd probably go for iTunes vouchers or something, I know it's not long-lasting, but it's probably more use to him. It's much easier to buy for girls, and maybe his mum just bought the locket on that basis!

That's reminded me, I don't know how much it was, but my nephew was bought a voucher for the place at Milton Keynes where you can experience skydiving in a big wind tunnel thingy.

Groupon might be worth a look to see if there are any 'experience' vouchers for things near you?

Hip flask is a good one, esp if going to a festival or similar

My friends bought me ducks for my 18th but maybe not the best suggestion!

Could get him a watch 'cos you can get all different kinds to suit anyone and would keep ... although I'm not a watch person so would check that too

I have similar ages here and girl friends on the radar. Recently they went off to Alton Towers for the day(but son can drive). They never seem to have much money between them so a day out OR vouchers as suggested for what ever they cant normally afford! Cinema & meal afterwards(probably may have to up budget for that as its not cheap these days)...mine just seen the new Harry Potter and loved it.

They love going out at that age..without us! Unfortunately I would appreciate a silver something but they have computers etc now so it seems really old fashioned these days.

Hip Flask - he is not a festival goer, but it is still a nice idea & one I shall look in to.

Watch - I reckon that is more the sort of thing his Mum may get him.....

Vouchers seem a bit impersonal to me & also ,as he is my daughters boyfriend, she would probably benefit too, which makes me a bit uneasy about giving them :?

I DO like the hip flask idea............
