beckyfitz
I have recently suffered the third loss of birds due to Mr Fox in my 5 years of poultry keeping - my two dear duckies Each has been different circumstances, but each of these events has occurred in Autumn. I know it probably stands to reason, weather changing, foxes probably still got young look after or young & active cubs setting out on their own, but I thought I would share with others to be extra vigilant. I thought winter would be the worst time when foxes are hungrier - maybe its the extra vigilance after an Autumn catastophe! Anyway, September, October, November in my area & experience are 'extra foxy' - I hope this might help others avoid a loss. Becky x

Sandychick
Very sorry I find myself getting a bit complacent when I haven't seen a fox for a few months - a good reminder for me and everyone, thanks.
lillybettybabs
You are right, I always see foxes lurking around in daylight hours during this time of year. We have one that runs through our front garden (to close for comfort) . Luckily living in the middle of a shooting estate the game keeper keeps the numbers down. I have also noticed a drop in wild rabbits around our area as well so more and more birds of prey are imprinting onto the pheasants and domestic chickens.
