Nightmare leaking WIR roof

Recommended Posts

The roof on WIR2 it leaking horrendously  New hemcore that I put down on Saturday is already ruined and needs replacing, it's like there isn't even a roof (it's not the sides, 2 sides of the run are solid and the other sides have plastic sheeting). It's a corrugated plastic one, but I need to do something.

My thoughts are:

1. Buy a plastic sheet big enough to cover the whole roof and wait it down.

2. Rip off the roof and put a new one on (although DIY is not my strong point, and I'm pretty skint right now)

Any other suggestions?

But it's only just done, poor you. Can you post a picture of how it looks. Must be through the overlaps or the screwholes. Did you put the plastic dome washers on. If its screwed straight through to the wood silicone sealant should seal them.

Could it be condensation rather than leaking, in which case you need to adjust ventilation :?

Because OH put ours on upside down we put some clear tape over the joins which has now flaked off. That may be a short term solution.

With winter on the way the quickest and cheapest way to waterproof your run is to throw over a tarp that wil cover the whole lot. You can use bungee's to tie it down and then next spring you can start thinking of maybe replacing the tarp with a new plastic roof. Good luck. :)

Sounds like you're sorted for the time being. I have had a leaky roof on my WIR, the corrugated plastic was sagging between two of the roof joists and this was letting in water. I got some long thin battens and poked them between the roof and the supports, and that's pretty much solved the problem.
