vickichicky
Love it! I like the look of your covered run - got any more pics of it?
cavysqueak
Love it!I like the look of your covered run - got any more pics of it? I was just thinking the same thing! Now that we've got seven hens the cube with 2m extension is looking a bit small. Also the posts holding up your chicken wire look really effective. I hated the 'saggy' effect we got when fixing the netting to wooden posts. No matter how hard we tried it just wouldn't sit straight! What are they and where did you buy them from? Thanks. hinterglem
I like the look of your covered run - got any more pics of it? It wasn't covered when I bought it - I made the roof myself (see http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=82393). Here's a pic of the whole thing (I have yet to tidy up the landscape fabric and put paving slabs round the outside): Also the posts holding up your chicken wire look really effective. I hated the 'saggy' effect we got when fixing the netting to wooden posts. No matter how hard we tried it just wouldn't sit straight! What are they and where did you buy them from? I got the posts from here: http://premiernetting.co.uk/catalog/metal-fencing-pins-pack-p-456.html, but I think you can get them in Wickes as well. Initially I also had green plastic netting, but they were able to squeeze their way through the holes! So now it is 25mm pvc coated wire netting (from B&Q) and it seems to be containing them so far. Chortle Chook
Fantastic set up What lucky chickens. Have you thought of putting a water barrel thingy to catch the rain that runs off the roof for use on the rest of your garden? Now that would be 'the good life' - veggies next

Now that would be 'the good life' - veggies next One step ahead of you there! lol. We already have a water butt, which catches more rainwater than we can actually use. We also have tomatoes, garlic, blueberries, strawberries, and probably other stuff I don't know about growing in pots (that's my wife's department!). I also make my own wine and beer, and we make our own bread, so we're well on the way to self-sufficiency! Still waiting for that first egg though... vickichicky
Thanks for the second picture and link to your plastic cutting guide - very informative + useful You have a lovely set up, I always think when I see a set up that would make me want to explore and check things out - it must be great for the hens. I frequently stand watching mine & looking at their run enhancements to see what I can add or change. It's very satisfying!
