grracee
I was wondering if anyone with a Blackberry could help me. I purchased a Blackberry Curve 9300 yesterday on pay as you go from Orange. I have activated my new sim card but when I put it in it says I am recieving Orange signal but I cannot make any calls/send any texts or set up my e-mail on there. When I try to do this it says 'Service Unavailable' but yet it lets me go on the internet browser. I have also tried my old Orange sim card in the phone and it's exactly the same. Any ideas on how to fix this?? Thanks .
Chucky Mama
Go to menu and then to 'Manage Connections' and make sure that 'Mobile Network' is ticked.
snowberry
Have they sent you the links that you need to set up email etc?
grracee
Go to menu and then to 'Manage Connections' and make sure that 'Mobile Network' is ticked. Yep, it's ticked It's odd as it will let me go on the internet but I can't do anything else. When I go on 'Service Status' under Mobile Voice it has Phone Number: 078- - - - - - - - Status: Not Available Connection: Not Connected I'm guessing this is the problem but I can't seem to change it. It was working okay yesterday as it allowed me to send texts but now won't. If I can't get it going I'll have to take it to the Orange shop tomorrow. Chucky Mama
I'd give Orange a ring and they should be able to sort it over the phone.

Griffin
Can you get an Orange signal where you are? When I ordered a Blackberry on Orange I had to send it back because the only time I could use it was upstairs at a certain window if the wind was in the right direction Orange didn't think that was a problem but I did

Willow
How are you getting on ? I went to text someone today on my new blackberry and because their mobile number had been saved as their 'work' number I got an error message saying service not available. I wonder if that might be why you could text and then couldn't ? It threw me as I'm sure it hadn't really mattered on my old blackberry. Chook n Boo Mum
I don't think it being set as a work number makes any difference, if more than one number is stored for a person I get asked which number to use.....today Blackberry has been "offline" or however they choose to term the lack of service BB users have had ! grracee
Well, it worked yesterday until late last night but have still had the problem since then. We rung up Orange today and have been told that all blackberry's on Orange are down - I know alot of people are having problems, apparently Blackberry are updating their server and they said that it should be back working tomorrow so will wait and see. I also read that to use the blackberry services, bbm, e-mail etc. I need to ring up Orange to set up a data-plan which I didn't know so will sort that out and fingers crossed everything will work then. Griffin
I'm with O2 and have been without emails & internet on my Blackberry all day, along with the rest of the country. I was bored to tears tonight at work tonight without Twitter & Facebook
Purplemaniacs
Ahh to get a signal at home I have to use UMA (I think) as coverage is so poor. I can't get that to work today would all these other problems cause UMA to fail to? Chrissie
grracee
Well mine still isn't working, fed up now - have rung Orange 3 - 4 times and haven't got anywhere any time. I rung again tonight as it still isn't working and all they said was 'Take the battery out and put it back in again, trust me it will work'. It worked, I could send texts, makes calls etc. for about an hour and then it says unavailable and not connected again. I also asked to set up the data plan so I could use the blackberry services, they said they had done it and I would receive a text, it said to turn it off and back on again but hasn't worked. Really wish I hadn't of brought it now.
Chucky Mama
I wouldn't worry too much today as yesterday and today there have been huge problems with all Blackberrys Click They are usually very good and very reliable. I have had one for about 5 years and this is the first time that RIM (company that deals with Blackberry services) has had a problem. Sometimes it is necessary to do a reset but there are 2 ways of doing it. There is a soft and hard reset Here is how I seriously wouldn't do too much though as your problems may be as a result of RIM issues. I didn't receive any emails between 1 and 5pm today. Chook n Boo Mum
Frustrating isn't it....I've had mine for over a year & loved it so much I upgraded last week from the Curve to the Touch/Torch can't remember it's name .....not at all happy yesterday & today tho ......I can text which is something, but I do miss my BBM with DS & WA with friends
Griffin
O2 have just been most unhelpful to me I've just read 'Blackberry Problem could last for weeks - the Backup system failed, entire system crashed after a update'. I use my Blackberry mostly for the internet while I'm at work, which I now cannot do nor does it look likely I'll do in the near future. My 24 month contract with O2 doesn't end until next August so I asked if they could swap my phone and they said no, not at all, not even if Blackberry services are not restored because I can still use it to call & text That's not what I wanted to hear If all I wanted to do was call & text I'd buy a cheap pay as you go! I don't see why I should pay £25 a month for services that are not being provided
lillybettybabs
No problem with my Torch at all (on orange) but then OH is a IT/phone boffin. I'll ask him when he gets in.
Griffin
The little twerp at customer services said if I wanted compensation I'd have to take that up with Blackberry. I don't see why I should, my contract is with O2, not Blackberry
little cluckers
I'm missing my blackberry services too makes me realise how much I depend on emails etc. On a lighter note, this made me smile, (hope it's ok to post link to youtube, there's no swearing etc)
Chook n Boo Mum
.........their faces are a picture, they are trying so hard not to laugh Got a text yesterday..... Dear BlackBerry, I think it's nice that you're honouring Steve Jobs' death with a 3 day silence............ Not terribly pc, but amusing nonetheless And another......... Griffin
I got excited at work last night when a message popped up saying I had a reply to something I'd written on Twitter and suddenly thought it was working. No

grracee
Right, think I have finally sorted it out after phoning Orange and e-mailing them numerous times!! When we rang tonight we were asked for the IMEI Number and they said it should be fine now as they just removed the 'blacklisting'. Surely, if the phone was black-listed then that means that the phone I brought as brand new off the Orange website isn't a new phone at all?? ETA: Have had a reply form Orange, apparently they bar all of their phones before and whilst on transit incase anything happens, so it is a new handset Edited October 14, 2011 by Guest
