Norfolk budget greenhouse *update bought one*

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of buying a Norfolk budget greenhouse they are dirt cheap at £69 there advert states clear plasic supplied on a roll. No one on my site has a greenhouse when I commented on this to another allotmenteer they suggested it was because of the once in a blue moon vandal attack so the plastic glass seemed ideal but are they worth buying :?:

I've seen them at shows, and they look great (have been tempted myself!) But wonder if you might be better to upgrade to the more rigid plastic instead of the stuff on a roll, might be a bit less vulnerable to damage by vandals? Good luck, we will need piccies of course when it's installed!!!

Thanks Bramble

That will do for me I mulled it over in my sleep as you do and I am going to buy one at £69 you can't go wrong really they are selling a little greenhouse heater for £12 so I might as well get that too as I can use it to warm the shed when I go there to take refuge from life

Fantastic! Please let me know what you think when it arrives ... I suppose I could make a bit of extra room in my tiny postage stamp size garden ...:angel:

Are you going to fix it to the ground in some way (the last greenhouse I had blew away  ), easy to do on grass/soil, not quite so easy on slabs, I guess?

Enjoy it when it comes!!!!

I had a Norfolk budget greenhouse. It served me very well until we moved house with 2 glass greenhouses already in the garden, I would have brought it with me otherwise.

The plastic is very thick and in the four or five years I used it only a couple of small rips appeared. These were caused by fierce Winter gales coming off the Moray Firth, we lived a couple of minutes walk from the sea. The rips were easily repaired with some poly tunnel tape. We laid slabs inside the greenhouse and secured the plastic underneath the slabs. OH secured the two corner poles on one side of the greenhouse to a trellis fence panel. It never budged even in the gales. The only downside to it was lack of a ventilation window but keeping the door open a little bit did the same job as a window. I actually had more success growing Tomatoes in the Norfolk greenhouse than I do with my glass greenhouses.

I also bought the budget heater at the same time and found it good to bring on seeds and seedlings in the Norfolk greenhouse. I had forgotten about the heater I must search it out.
