jackian
Florry my has been with us 6 months now and always very active. She has laid an egg as usual today and she was fine ,running around the garden with the others. About 2 hours ago I opened the back door and usually they come flying along expecting food ,the other 2 did but no poppy. She was under a bush as still as a statue and there she has mostly stayed all afternoon.I tried to tempt her with meal worms ,not a flicker. I lifted her out and put her away from the bush and there she stayed...half hour later back under the bush. She looks really listless. She is usually the livliest of my 3 girls and I am puzzled...Now she won't let me touch her. vickichicky
Any other symptoms at all? My first thought was a soft shell stuck in the pipe...but you say she laid an egg today . Only my girls have suddenly gone like this and I've panicked - but a while later a leathery egg popped out and all was well again. Is she walking ok? I'm sure you'll get the best advice you can from here from someone. Our thoughts are with you xx
jackian
She is still under the hedge, very still but still on her feet.she has not sat down. I was going to take her to the vet as i did not know what to do but the vet says they know nothing of chickens So it is just wait and see. vickichicky
Could still be a soft shell if she is still standing. Is she a bit upright looking & stretches a bit every now & then?... Fingers crossed for your girly. xx
chickanne
Thelma had an odd turn like that last month - even a grape did not interest her. I gave her some nutrient drops and put her to bed and although she was quiet next day, she did make a full recovery. Fingers crossed for you,
jackian
Thank you for that , she is still the same so I have just put some drops in water and will put her in as usual if she will go .If not a box in the spare bedroom and p.s. she does not want food or water . jackian
vickichicky, Well done you were right I lifted her up and put her in the WIR with the others and she did not dive for any treat. I put her in a box with straw outside the coup and trotted down the road to the village to a chicken man .After getting a bit of advice from him I went to see how she was and she had gone in the coup . Low and behold in the box was a soft shelled egg. Hopefully fingers crossed

Have seen it with my (RIP) ex-Batts a few times in the past - and only a few weeks ago with my Cream Legbar before she went into moult. I pray that this morning she is up and at it with all the others as usual.
