craftyhunnypie
Wooohoooo we have two lickle chickies! Both still in incy fluffy up nicely. One is white with a sort of grey stripe across it's head like a headband. That one hatched first. Then then other looks as though it is going to be pure white. I think the second one has more of a naked neck than the first. Perhaps the first has a bib? They are the funniest, cutest things I've ever seen - just like little E.T's or Emus. Brooder all prepared & electric hen is nice & warm. So glad two have hatched already. At least I won't have a lone chick. Another egg is wiggling like mad. Maybe another hatch in the night. I will take photos, but probably won't post them until tomorrow night, as I'm out in Aber tomorrow. Xmas hairdo and stuff. So pleased. craftyhunnypie
NOt ideal this time of year..hubby's fault. But we are very organised & they will be indoors until I know it is suitable for them to be outdoors. Emma.x
Plum
but you wouldn't have started unless you knew they'd be protected. Are they ok Emma, I'd love to see some pics of them
craftyhunnypie
Oh yes they are very well! We have a total of 3. I don't think the remaining two are viable any more. We have one that I think is going to be blue splash, another that is quite white, but I think may also have some splashes of blue & then we have a black one. The black one is my favourite, as it has quite a fluffy hairdo. I must get some better pics of them tomorrow. I've just been too busy today shovelling mud off the hardcore track to our house. Plum
Do they have little bald black necks?
craftyhunnypie
Yes they have lovely black skinned bald necks with chickie wrinkles. Gorgeous! We got a total of 3. The other 2 were quitters. Hubby cracked open to see what had happened & they hadn't absorbed the yolk & were a bit under developed. Maybe a blip in humidity due to the freak weather round here. Lights had been dipping. So glad we got 3 though. Names are.. Lola ( the one who looks like it's wearing a headband ), has a stripe across head. Cabbana - sort of whitish one from what i can tell. Difficult as the black skin shows through & is deceiving. Rico - Black with very fluffy head - appears a bit larger than the other 2...boy? Altogether now... Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl..with yellow feathers in her hair.. His name was Rico, he wore a diamond.... At the Copa, Copa Cabanna. ...
